Downy Woodpecker (Picoides pubescens) digs into larvae that Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa californica) attempts to protect on Jacaranda tree. Woodpecker plays hide and seek to escape threats by Carpenter Bee. Male Carpenter Bees (black) have no stingers and both males and females are great polinators.
