Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis)

Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis)
The Brown Pelican lives along shallow coastal waters in the Americas. They dive into the ocean with their heads under water to catch fish. Their bill pouches can hold up to 10 liters of water. Brown Pelicans incubate their eggs by putting their webbed feet over the eggs.

www.karenbrown.com Welcome to Karen Brown's World of Travel We would like to share with you one of our recommended hotels in CAlifornia The Pelican Inn in the town of Muir Beach The Pelican Inn is a wonderful re-creation of an English country pub, complete with old-world guestrooms tucked upstairs. The Public Bar serving draught beers, ales and stout, low, beamed ceilings hung with horse brasses, a giant inglenook fireplace with its secret priest hole, a cozy guest lounge and a dining room with trestle tables all contribute to the atmosphere. Next to the dining room, is the conservatory where breakfast is served and, in an evening, guests can dine by candlelight on linen-decked tables. Upstairs there are seven cozy bedrooms where the English theme is continued with draped half-tester and four-poster beds and little mullioned windows. We particularly liked room 1, the largest and airiest room overlooking the garden, and room 2, the smallest room with it's high queen bedded four poster bed tucked in a corner. There's often lots of revelry on weekend evenings (11pm closing) but know that you can always retreat from the hubbub to the guests private sitting room. The location is fabulous a few minutes' drive from the giant redwood grove at Muir Woods and a five minute walk to the most beautiful of beaches. Reservations for summer weekends need to be made several months in advance. The restaurant and pub is open seven days a week, year round. Travel your Dreams with Karen Brown!
