Environmental Science Building at Oberlin College

The Environmental Science building at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio was designed by students. The materials from the building are all local, except for the floor panels which help to control the indoor temperature. The building also uses geothermal energy (flowing the building's air through the cool ground) to cool the building's air. They have solar panels on the roof and over the parking lot (so that the building actually produces more energy than it uses), uses efficient lightbulbs, and the furniture is all made from reused materials. The wastewater from the building is run through a purifying system that makes it safe enough to drink, and is used to irregate the garden right outside.
