Syrinx live at St. Martin In The Fields, January 2012 Holly Cook and Tamara Young www.hollycook.co.uk Holly Cook ~ Flute, Tamara Young ~ Harp Holly Cook has recently graduated with a Masters degree in performance at Trinity College of Music, where she was awarded a Leverhulme Orchestral Mentorship Award for study. Holly studied flute with Anna Noakes and ethnic flutes with Andy Findon and Tony Hinnigan. Her specialist area of study was ethnic flute music, upon which she wrote a dissertation and made a recording of a contemporary Japanese influenced piece of flute music, gaining a distinction for this. As part of her training, Holly undertook a Mentor Scheme placement with the BBC Concert Orchestra, with Ileana Ruheman. Holly has recently been featured in Muso magazine in an interview as a member of the contemporary flute octet Ayre Flutes. As a soloist, Holly has given many recital performances around London and the UK, including at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Cheltenham Town Hall and Royal Tunbridge Wells. Recent concerto performances include the Mozart Flute Concerto in D, Bach Brandenburg Concerto 5 and Nielsen Concerto with the Stamford Chamber Orchestra. Holly was awarded a Fellowship of Trinity College London in 2007 and a Licentiate of Trinity College London in flute teaching in 2008.
