Please join Our Facebook page! www.facebook.com Shell Ginger Processing Factory In Kitadaito Village, Okinawa 月桃加工場（沖縄県 北大東島 北大東村） This factory is for processing Kitadaito's Tairin getto (shell ginger). Facilities on the right side are for leaves, and on the left side for stalks. I'm going to introduce how they work. We cut shell gingers in two parts: leaves and stalks. Leaves get milled in this pulverizer, then get steamed. Steam goes to the cooling tank. Then it gets condensed to liquid. Here is shell ginger's essential oil. Scented water will be poured into this stainless steel tank. This is a stalk of shell ginger. They grow about between 2.5 meters and 3 meters. Tallest ones grow over 4 meters. We make pulp from stalks. Stalks get crushed by this facility then get cut in pieces. And here is pulp. It will be shipped out of the island to cloth companies. Once we harvest shell ginger, we waste nothing. A variety of special products are produced from shell ginger.
