March 1, 2010. Tens of Thousands of Snow Geese on annual migration stop by Lake Springfield, Illinois Captured by JVC video Camera, GR-D347U
You are sitting in your blind, you have put out 750 snow goose decoys, you know the field has the potential for.... and it starts to happen. Snow geese from the east and from the southwest begin to gather over top your decoys, starting at 1000 feet high, they begin to swirl their way, lower and lower. How many can you get 20 feet off the ground. The temptation to shoot is immense. The experience of seeing these Saskatchewan snow geese in this way is worth it alone. Finally, you let loose with your shotguns and birds start falling and the dogs go to work. This is a rare occurrence, 10000 snow geese all working to get down to the same place. The more amazing thing is it happened to us four times this morning. This was definitely the hunt of the year!
