Targa Newfoundland 2011: Stage 2-8 (Gander 1)

Bumpercam! Gander is a classic Targa Newfoundland stage, a commuter's fantasy of being let loose in a subdivision in a rally car. It has a ridiculous number of corners that all look the same. This is the first run through, so you'll see me swinging the tail around. It's not the fastest way through, but it can be the easiest way to deal with unknown corners. We took 14 seconds of penalties, which made us the fastest Open class car by a significant margin. The in-car camera died here, so I apologize for the lack of any real soundtrack. The car is the Targa Miata, a 1994 Miata fitted with a 400 hp V8. The driver is Keith Tanner with Janel Tanner navigating. You can see more about the car at www.targamiata.com.
