Gummy Bear & Molten Potassium Chlorate-Combustion

Gummy Bear & Molten Potassium Chlorate-Combustion
I heated potassium chlorate to it's melting point of ~ 350°C. The added gummy bear reacts spontaneously and violently. C12H22O11(s) + 8KClO3(s) = 12CO2(g) + 11H2O(g) + 8KCl(s)

These little 'rockets' are used to compare the exothermic reactions of different fuels to my GCSE Chemistry students. I'm the guy with the splint!
