Tehran Countdown - part 2

20 Jun 2012 RT (1) David Henderson is of the Hoover Institution. (2) Dan Williams is of Thomson Reuters. (3) Sadegh Zibakalam is of the University of Tehran. [Dan in Jerusalem. The Americans and Western allies are willing to give peanuts and they want diamonds from Iran. The preconditions, what kind of negotiating stance is that?] 2 - There is the aspect of the opening gambit [Wow!] The focus now is for 20 per cent higher enrichment which would exponentially bring Iran to weapons grade uranium. The dynamics, Iran is very adept at long-term negotiating. 1 - I want to point out - exponential is a strong world. Weapons grade is 20 to 90 plus. That's a very expensive process. 2 - Forgive me, it's considerably easier from 20 per cent to 90 per cent than it is from 3 per cent. That's scientific fact. 3 - Can I just add one sentence as far as the 20 per cent is concerned. Iran actually was forced to go for producing 20 per cent because Iran has a scientific nuclear reactor in the north. The Americans installed it 40 years ago. The fuel Iran needs for that reactor is 20 per cent. Iran begged for 20 per cent and no one gave Iran 20 per cent. Now the British have said why have to made 20 per cent? No one says that Iran was forced to go to 20 per cent uranium. [These negotiations are full threats still. There are circles in the US and Israel who say we have to attack and we have to attack soon] 1 - Not just threats, but sanctions are increasingly biting. Not allowing Iranians buy ...
