Maple Leaf Homes Sneak Peak

www.EcoPlusHome.com is an experimental house powered using alternative energy generation technologies. The house will be equipped with a geothermal heat pump, a solar thermal system and a photovoltaic system, which will all operate together to create a net zero house. The solar thermal system will generate heat for the hot water, which it will draw from free solar radiation. The geothermal heat pump will draw warmer air from the ground and the photovoltaic system will generate CO2-free electricity to power the house. In today's video Bryan and his wife Renée visit the Maple Leaf Homes in Fredericton New Brunswick for a site tour of their prefabricated homes manufacturing plant. They also get a sneak peak of their new EcoPlusHome. Bryan and his family will live in the house for a 12 month period as a living example showcasing their experiences on their blog at http using written content as well as video. The goal of the project is to see whether or not a normal everyday family can live self sustained for a year using alternative energy generation technologies to power their home. "We aim to show people that using alternative energy generation technologies like geothermal, solar thermal and photovoltaic is not some futuristic way to reduce or eliminate your power bill. This alternative energy generation technology is not only available but it's affordable for the average North American.
