Prairie Hill Top Dragster Record Setter 082209 Wing Cam
Here is a video of the current record holder of the dragster/open wheeled class at Prairie Hill Dragway taken with a camera mounted on the wing spar during a slower 4.45 second pass on August 22, 2009. Now you can see what the driver experiences on a 3 G launch. About 100 feet before the 1/8 mile finish line, the blower belt breaks, killing the engine and knocks loose the oil pan safety shield. If you look closely you can see when the engine drops all eight cylinders at one time and emits a stream of white of unburned fuel from each cylinder. If you listen closely at the end of the video, you can hear the safety pan dragging the ground. That's drag racing.
